TATTOO AFTERCARE

  • If your tattoo is covered with Saniderm, remove the bandage in 24-48 hours. If it is covered with a regular bandage, remove it in 1-3 hours.
  • Using your hand, wash your tattoo with non-scented soap and warm water to remove any dried blood or plasma. Gently pat dry with a clean paper towel. Do not rebandage.
  • Wash your tattoo 3-4 times a day. Your tattoo needs oxygen to heal, remember to let it get air and breathe.
  • In the first 2-3 days, you can apply a very THIN layer of Aquafor if the skin begins to feel tight or dry. After the 3rd day do not use ointment, start moisturizing with a non-scented lotion until the tattoo is fully healed.
  • Peeling and flaking is a normal part of the healing process. If scabbing occurs, let them fall off on their own. DO NOT pick, scratch, or rub at your tattoo - it will damage it!
  • Do not expose the tattoo to the sun, unclean conditions, or irritating clothing that may hinder the healing process. Do not soak your tattoo. Showers are fine but no swimming, Jacuzzis, etc.
  • It is important to be patient with the healing and do not rush the process. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me!

SANIDERM INFO

What is Saniderm?

Saniderm is a hypo-allergenic, waterproof, self-adhesive bandage.

It locks in the body’s natural moisture and healing enzymes, allowing your skin to breathe while protecting it from the environment. It keeps your fresh tattoo away from dirt and germs while eliminating friction and other irritations that might further interfere with the healing process.

How long should it stay on my tattoo?

The first piece should be left on your new tattoo for 12-48 hours. Some plasma/ink will weep from the tattoo, making it appear blurry. This is completely normal and doesn’t mean your tattoo is bleeding out.  Since everyone heals differently the length of time you keep it on will depend on how much fluid builds up, which will affect the adhesion of Saniderm. Remove if the seal breaks and begins to leak fluid. Start regular aftercare after removing, or second piece can be applied and left for 3-6 days.

How do you remove Saniderm?

The best way to remove Saniderm is to find an edge and pull the Saniderm back over itself in the direction of hair growth. Pulling upward on the Saniderm can be painful. Rarely, some people will stick to the Saniderm better than others and it can be difficult to remove. In this case try removing Saniderm in warm shower, the warmth will loosen the adhesive and make it easier to remove.

Can I shower while wearing it?

Saniderm is waterproof, it stays on the skin even when immersed in water so you’re able to bathe and shower as normal.

Can I exercise while wearing Saniderm?

Exercising with Saniderm is fine, just be aware that sweating can weaken the adhesive of Saniderm and cause the bandage to come off prematurely.

Could I have an allergic reaction?

Saniderm is both latex free and hypoallergenic, so allergic reactions are very rare. Some people, however, have very sensitve skin and are allergic to adhesives. If you experience a rash, abnormal skin irritation, or other symptoms of an allergic reaction, discontinue use and wash with mild soap.
